Mission:
We are a statewide network of community land trusts united to share resources, shape housing policy, and create homes that stay affordable for generations.
Vision:
We envision a state where neighbors unite to make housing more attainable, fueling local economies, and building more resilient communities.
Values:
Collaboration: We believe that collective learning and action yield greater impact, build trusting relationships, and foster support without competition.
Community-Centered: Our work is rooted in the lived experiences, needs, and aspirations of the communities we serve.
Community Resilience: We measure success not just by immediate outcomes but by the long-term strength, stability, and inclusion of the communities we support.
Goals:
Establish a sustainable organizational structure: Build the internal foundation needed for long-term impact and success.
Develop a unified statewide policy and advocacy agenda: Position CLTs as an effective solution to North Carolina’s housing crisis through coordinated advocacy.
Strengthen knowledge and resource sharing among members: Create a system to support members with shared tools, peer learning, and best practices.
Build public awareness and strengthen messaging for CLTs across North Carolina: Ensure that the community land trust model is well understood and that our messaging is consistent and compelling.
Expand financing tools and strategic partnerships to increase impact and reduce costs: Support CLT development across North Carolina by building partnerships that provide shared services, reduce costs, and improve access to capital including the launch of a statewide revolving loan fund.
A single investment in a CLT creates permanent housing affordability. The same home can serve generation after generation of homebuyers, with the original investment recycled through every resale. By preserving land for community benefit, CLTs provide lasting access to homeownership at attainable prices - something no other housing model can do.
